Sprint makes the HTC EVO Shift 4G and a 4G MiFi official

The HTC EVO Shift 4G is now official, and will launch on Sprint's network on January 9. The Shift will, as expected, have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.2 (Froyo), and a 3.6-inch touchscreen.

Additionally, as an HTC device, it will also carry HTC's Sense UI layer. As a 4G device, just as with the Evo and Epic, users will be required to activate a data plan including the $10 Premium Data Add-On. Other specifications for the device:
  • $149 with a $100 mail-in rebate and a new two-year service agreement (or eligible upgrade)
  • 5MP camera
  • 720p HD camcorder
  • wi-fi, and Sprint Mobile Hotspot (supporting up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices)
  • Visual Voicemail
  • GPS Navigation
  • microSD slot (supporting up to 32GB memory card)
Additionally, Sprint announced a new 3G/4G mobile hotspot, built by Novatel Wireless. The MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot can connect with up to five wi-fi enabled devices. Pricing will be $49.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate. It will support shared storage through a MicroSD slot (up to 32GB). Once again a new two-year service agreement (or eligible upgrade) is required. The MiFi will go on sale February 27th, for $50.
