New zodiac sign dates set the Twitterverse aflame

Your zodiac sign may no longer be your Zodiac sign, as with Earth's wobble its position in relation to the Sun has changed. Additionally, there is a new Zodiac sign, Ophiuchus, which the Babylonians, who developed the signs of the Zodiac, skipped, because they wanted there to be only 12 signs.

Astronomer Parke Kunkle said that Earth is in a different spot in relation to the Sun than 3,000 years ago, when the study of astrology began. Thus, the dates for specific signs should be changed now.

It is unclear why this all exploded now; the "new" Zodiac is actually known as sidereal zodiac and according to Wikipedia was most recently defined in 1944. The traditional zodiac is known as the tropical zodiac.

The signs, and their tropical (first) and sidereal dates are:

Capricorn: Dec. 22 - Jan. 20; Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Jan 20 - Feb. 19; Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: Feb 19 - March 20; March 11- April 18
Aries: March 20 – April 20; April 18 - May 13
Taurus: April 20 - May 21; May 13 - June 21
Gemini: May 21 - June 21; June 21 - July 20
Cancer: June 21 - July 23; July 20 - Aug. 10
Leo: July 23 - Aug. 23; Aug. 10 - Sept. 16
Virgo: Aug. 23 - Sept. 23; Sept. 16 - Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 - Nov. 23; Sept. 23 - Oct. 23
Scorpio: Oct. 23 - Nov. 22; Nov. 23 - Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 - Dec. 17 In both, but skipped in tropical.
Sagittarius: Nov. 22 - Dec. 22; Dec. 17 - Jan. 20

What's interesting is that astrologers say your horoscope has not changed, that "this rotation has been known about since 500 B.C. and the horoscope calendar hasn't moved."

It's unclear to a neophyte what that means, as if you change from one sign to another, wouldn't your horoscope change? New zodiac sign or not, the Twitterverse was aflame on Thursday about any changes to the zodiac. The overall Twitter verdict: not good.
